La Quinta's got Talent!  Friday, April 29, 5 p.m  Let us entertain you and let us make you smile during the annual talent showcase. City Picnic Saturday, April 30 9a.m - 1p.m Civic Center Park Celebrate the City of La Quinta's 34th Birthday Party with your friends and family while enjoying this high energy event. There will be non-stop entertainment, bounce houses, activities for children, hot dogs, cold drinks and plenty of giveaways. Great music as well as performances by local favorites such as LQ Shining Stars, La Quinta Brigade, Dance Play & Pretend and Beginning Ballet. Be sure to check out the free rock climbing wall as well. This will be an event you will not want to miss! Free to the public
Community Emergency Response Team April 8-10, 2016 Fri. – 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm Sat. & Sun – 8:00 am to 5:00 pm 78495 Calle Tampico La Quinta, CA 92253 This training is hosted by the City of La Quinta CERT is about readiness, people helping people, rescuer safety, and doing the greatest good for the greatest number. CERT is a positive and realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations where citizens will be initially on their own and their actions can make a difference. Through training, citizens can manage utilities and put out small fires; treat the three killers by opening airways, controlling bleeding, and treating for shock; provide basic medical aid; search for and rescue victims safely; and organize themselves and spontaneous volunteers to be effective. CERT training is a commitment of 20 hours of training. There is no cost for the training. Only those who successfully complete the practical exercise with hands-on instruction in fire suppression, search and rescue, cribbing and medical will receive a certificate of completion. www.laquinta.org

All ages and experience are welcome – there will be a division for everybody. Prizes awarded to the top finishers in each division (advanced, novice, youth).
